Boosting production with cutting edge technology

Seminar held for Tobacco Packaging Printing Technology successfully held by Manroland together with BOBST and Qingzhou Xinhua Packaging Products Co., Ltd. in Qingzhou, Shandong Province

The development pace of various industries has slightly slowed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the tobacco industry bucked this trend and enjoyed strong growth. Proof of this is that in 2020 cigarette packaging printers invested heavily in brand-new equipment.

For print companies to maximize their use of their equipment and also to help other businesses understand the workings of the latest technology, Manroland, BOBST and Qingzhou Xinhua Packaging Products Co., Ltd. jointly held a Seminar on Packaging Printing Technology in Qingzhou, Shandong Province.

The seminar aims to support the printers in achieving greater success by sharing the equipment‘s technical advantages and attractive features as well as their extensive applications in the tobacco industry.

The seminar received strong support from Shandong Packaging & Printing Association. Its consultant, Mr. Wang Junxu, and Secretary General Mr. Zhong Bo attended the event.

In his speech, Mr. Zhong spoke of the prospects for the vigorous development of the Shandong cigarette packaging industry.

Mr. Roy Guo, Head of Operation Sheetfed Division, Manroland Greater China, and Mr. Huang Jinping, Business Director of Corrugated Boxes and Folding Color Boxes, BOBST Greater China, welcomed the guests to the seminar. They both were optimistic about the development prospects for this sector of the packaging printing market and wished great success to the printers.

During the seminar, Manroland’s team analyzed in detail the development trends in today’s Chinese printing market. Manroland believes that enterprises and markets are interdependent, markets and products are closely related, and products and processes are closely linked. Therefore, only with the help of unique and perfect production technology can the printers stand out in the areas of product quality, product level and market competition. Manroland also emphasized the importance of customized packaging for special products from various market segments.

  • Tobacco packaging – a jewel of the packaging industry, its packaging products require the most complex printing process;
  • Cosmetics printing – the finest and most delicate products in the packaging industry, its packaging products require the most sophisticated printing technology;
  • Alcohol packaging – the best of the packaging industry, its packaging products require exquisite printing technology;
  • Food packaging – essential in the packaging industry, its packaging products require exceptional printing technology;
  • Pharmaceutical packaging – extraordinary in the packaging industry, its packaging products require the most practical printing technology;
  • Special effects – so unique in the packaging industry, its packaging products require the most unique printing process;
  • Other packaging – suitable in the packaging industry, and its packaging products need the most suitable printing process;
  • Combination of commercial and book printing, animation printing and dairy packaging printing — and they all require specific equipment customization solutions.

As the world’s leading manufacturer of sheetfed printing equipment, Manroland shows the way in the customization of high-quality packaging printing machines. These provide customers with end-to-end customized printing solutions to fully meet their various needs.

The ROLAND 700 Evolution (ROLAND 708 LV + UV), recently acquired by Qingzhou Xinhua Packaging Products Co., Ltd., best illustrates this.

Its iconic 16-roller ink chain design ensures the best balance between ink storage and reaction speed, which is particularly suitable for the “rich colored” product characteristics and design requirements of tobacco packaging products; TripleFlow configures the optimal ink volume according to different graphics and texts; the intelligent software controls the ink volume for new jobs and job changes, thus minimizing wasted printing sheets and increasing efficiency.

This is especially important to the tobacco packaging printing companies, as the cost of cigarette packaging materials is high. The more material you save, the more savings you get in terms of production costs. Needless to say, this translates into more profits.

Moreover, thanks to its excellent print quality and process capability, the ROLAND 700 Evolution has received wide recognition from tobacco packaging companies since its launch.

It is common knowledge that BOBST is one of the world’s leading suppliers of substrate processing, printing and converting equipment and services for the label, flexible packaging, folding carton and corrugated industries. At the seminar, BOBST introduced the latest application of the company’s die stamping technology in the cigarette packaging industry.

BOBST, a key partner in the seminar, is committed to providing customers with first-class machines, and continues to add more intelligence, software functions and cloud-based platforms to make packaging production better than ever.

At the end of the seminar, the participants were taken to Qingzhou Xinhua Packaging Products Co., Ltd. for a visit. The participants came away from the event with a better understanding of how cutting-edge technology can further the growth of their businesses. “WE ARE PRINT®”.
