Victory secured on final day of racing<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Newport, Rhode Island \u2013 July 20, 2024<\/p>\n

The Langley\u00a0Gladiator Sailing Team<\/em>\u00a0has made history, becoming the first British team to secure the Rolex TP52 World Championship title after five nail-biting days of intense competition.<\/p>\n

In a dramatic three-race finale off Newport, Rhode Island, the\u00a0Gladiator<\/em>\u00a0team eventually emerged victorious with a six-point lead over the 2021 Rolex World Champions,\u00a0Sled<\/em>, and an eight-point advantage over the 2023 Rolex World Champions,\u00a0Platoon Aviation<\/em>, who finished in third place.<\/p>\n

With team boss Tony Langley calling tactics and legendary Argentinian helmsman Guillermo Parada steering, the\u00a0Gladiators<\/em>\u00a0forged ahead after a ninth place in race one of the ten-race championship, notching up three consecutive wins to tie with\u00a0Quantum Racing Powered by American Magic<\/em>, leading on count-back by the end of day two.<\/p>\n

Day three of racing saw the American challenge fall away and the\u00a0Gladiators<\/em>\u00a0take the lead by just one point over Team\u00a0Alegre<\/em>. On day four that challenge was replaced by a one-point lead over the 2021 Rolex World Champions, Sled<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The coveted Rolex World Championship title was finally decided on the last day of racing on Saturday with three races in freshening breeze, each race consolidating the\u00a0Gladiator<\/em>\u00a0\u2018s lead over\u00a0Sled<\/em>\u00a0to an eventual six point margin.<\/p>\n
