InLineCoating
InLineCoater
With over three decades of success in inline coating; the focus in the early years was surface protection but soon print buyers became increasingly more interested in the many other effects this technology offered but at reasonable costs. Matt, gloss and lustrous effects provided great advertising appeal – and better still could be all produced in one inline process. The ROLAND InlineCoater made its mark in history.
Applications:
- For over 15 years now the ROLAND double inline coating module has been enhancing high-end packaging with water-based gold and silver inks. It permits combinations of different types of inks and different processes.
- Folding cartons for cosmetic products often have printing and enhancement on the inside. The ROLAND 700 prints the inside of the box with pearlescent pigment coating plus a spot color and text, then prints the outside of the box in six colors after which two ROLAND InlineCoaters complete the inline manufacturing process with matt/gloss effects. This avoids a second or even a third offline step. By producing the job in one color pass, register for the complete job can be checked immediately so there is no risk of problems showing up during a second pass. This saves on time and expensive materials. Designers now have virtually no limits for innovative and exquisite premium print products that can also be produced at economical prices.
InLineCoater smart
Inline coating has been popular for many years with packaging printers who coat almost every job. With more and more commercial printers interested in inline coating but only coating occasionally, the extra cost of a coating module with extended delivery could not always be justified. The ROLAND InlineCoater smart was specifically designed for occasional and simple applications of dispersion coating (protective and matt or gloss coating) on paper and light board, ideally suitable for the commercial print market
The printing unit equipped with the ROLAND InlineCoater smart can be changed over from printing to coating and vice versa within a reasonable time. It can be fitted to the last printing unit of all ROLAND 700 straight printing or perfecting presses. An IR/hot-air drying system specially modified to suit the standard delivery ensures good drying results.
